Banbury

A market town found within the stunning surrounds of North Oxfordshire, Banbury is a place whose name rings clear in anyone who has read a nursery rhyme. Found near the M40 motorway, Banbury has fabulous transportation links and is fast becoming one of the major commuter towns for people working in London, Oxford and Birmingham.

Although famous for Banbury Cross and Banbury Cakes, the town as a rich and fascinating history beyond this, which can be experienced with a visit to the Banbury Museum. The art and culture scene is thriving within Banbury also, with an annual folk festival running each April, where you can witness traditional music, arts and crafts from across the UK.

Nearby you can experience Broughton Castle, the setting for the film Shakespeare in Love, a medieval manor house built in the year 1300, currently the home of the Saye and Sele family. Of course retail fans won’t be disappointed as Castle Quay Shopping Centre will cover all of your retail therapy needs.

Macmillan Way
If you fancy along walk in the Cotswolds this 86 mile trek is a treat. The route is varied and pretty and goes from Banbury to Bath.

Upton House and Gardens

Sulgrave Manor
This manor has strong links with North America, as a direct descendant of George Washington was known to have built the house in the 16th century. Subsequently there is the George Washington collection is displayed here. Located in Manor Road. (01295 760 205)
