Flamingo Land in Pickering, was the first European site to combine a theme park and zoo. Named after the pink flamingoes that habitat the site, this attraction has been established for over 40 years. There are distinct areas of this theme park where visitors can see exotic creatures, ride huge rollercoasters or be entertained by the family rides.

African animals such as lions, chimps and camels can be seen in the zoo, which also includes a reptile house and a bird house. Young children are also able to get up close to native animals in the farm.
One of the main thrill rides at Flamingo Land is the Cliff Hanger. This is a huge tower, resembling a rocket launch pad. Visitors are propelled to the top and dropped back down at irregular intervals which increases the suspense. The world's steepest rollercoaster, Mumbo Jumbo, can be found at Flamingo Land. It has a 112° incline. Velocity is a totally unique rollercoaster, in that visitors sit on motorbikes rather than seats. The harness system leaves the upper body totally free, as the ride goes through turns and loops! All rides display information about restrictions due to health or size.
For a more relaxing time, there are family water rides, 4D movie adventures, pedaloes and children's rides. Junior Driving School will entertain youngsters, as they navigate obstacles in their miniature London buses! The zoo monorail and express train both take visitors around the zoo area to view the animals.
