Glasgow Prestwick airport is situated 32 miles away from Glasgow city centre. Planes from here fly to many European destinations including Spain, Germany, France, Italy, Norway, Latvia, Norway, Sweden and Turkey. Flights are also available to Ireland and Jersey.
Work is currently taking place in creating a dedicated pick-up and drop off point directly in front of the terminal and this should be available soon – vehicles not allowed to use this facility are large 4x4 cars, vans and minibuses. At present car passengers can pick up and drop off in short term car park, where there is a maximum free waiting time of 5 minutes.
The M77 motorway links Glasgow Prestwick with central Glasgow – other main routes to the airport are the A79 and the M8.There are good parking facilities on site – the short term car park is a 1-2 minute walk away and the long term parking is only a 3-5 minute walk.
Ayr Black Taxis run a service at the airport adjacent to the terminal building. There is also a dedicated express bus service which operates when public transport is unavailable and this connects the airport with both Edinburgh centre and Glasgow town centre.
Within the airport building there are places to eat and drink including Peckhams Deli which serves both hot and cold food and wine and beers. A Scottish Presence store is open daily where passengers can buy souvenirs and gifts from Scotland. W H Smiths and a duty free store are also on-site.
Glasgow Prestwick operates a left luggage facility (£5 per day/£10 per day for larger items). This is located in the Security area at the airport.
The five major car hire companies have desks at the airport in the arrivals hall. And the car pick-up point is situated just adjacent to the terminal building.
