Grasmere is a village located within the centre of the English Lake District and takes its name from the adjacent lake of Grasmere. The poet William Wordsworth described Grasmere as "the loveliest spot that man hath ever found".
The village is overlooked by the small rocky hill of Helm Crag known locally as The Lion and the Lamb that is an interesting spot to view. There are a number of walks beginning from the centre of the village and include beautiful ascents up Helm Crag or to Fairfield. The village features excellent transport routes, such as the A591 that connects Grasmere northwards over Dunmail Raise to the Vale of Keswick and southwards to Ambleside.
