Hailsham

Hailsham is a town located within East Sussex, England, which features a long history of agriculture. Hailsham has excellent transport links, and is located near the junction of two major roads, the A22 and the A27.

Hailsham is a haven of fun activities, and has recently welcomes a new entertainment complex named “Freedom Leisure. The complex has many facilities including a gym and a pool with a flume and water slide. For an evening of fun entertainment, there have also been several bowling lanes added recently and the Hailsham Outdoor Bowling Club is at the rear of the complex.

 

Four pubs remain in the town centre including The Grenadier; The Corn Exchange and The Terminus. There are a number of accommodation choices as well as some fine eating venues and entertainment avenues. Amongst the many historic attractions in the town is the Hailsham Pavilion, a Grade II listed building that features architecture dating back to the early 1900’s that now stands as an excellent theatre and cinema.

Open during the summer season (April-October) and just under four miles from Hailsham; Herstmonceux Castle is a magnificent moated country home with origins in the 15th Century.

Now an international study centre for foreign students, the gardens and grounds are open to the public and guided tours of the castle’s interior can be booked.

Just under seven miles from Hailsham, Eastbourne is the location for a quirky museum devoted to a bygone era of shopping and social history.

‘How We Lived Then’ is housed in a mid-19th Century town house and comprises a grocer, a wartime kitchen and living room, and a seafarer’s inn.
