John Lennon airport is situated around 8 miles from the city centre, next to the River Mersey. There are over a hundred international flight destinations from this airport: Canada, Australia and China to Ghana, South Korea and Singapore to name but a few. There are also many domestic flights in the UK to all the major city airports.
If travelling to the airport by car the airport is conveniently situated close to the M62, the M57 and the M56 – there is good signage and travellers are advised to follow the signs rather than rely on Sat Nav.
There is an express bus service which runs from John Lennon airport to the nearest train station Liverpool South Parkway and the journey time is 10 minutes, with buses leaving every 20 minutes Monday to Saturday. The Arriva Airlink operates a service from the airport to the city centre which runs every 30 minutes at quarter past and quarter to the hour Monday to Saturday. National Express coaches link the airport to both Liverpool and Manchester city centres.
A hackney cab rank is situated just outside the airport entrance and there are places for pre-booked taxis to drop off and pick up in the car park area. The journey time into Liverpool is roughly 20 minutes and at the present time costs around £15.
Left luggage facilities are available on the ground floor of terminal one at the information desk. This facility is open from 5.30am to 8pm every day.
Restaurants and shops are open from the first flights of the day onwards and there is a resident art exhibition at the airport with many exhibits, with photographs, sculptures and paintings on show.
A tourist information office is situated on the ground floor where details of accommodation and car hire can be found.
