Leamington

Leamington is town situated within central Warwickshire, England, by the River Leam that was once famous as a popular spa resort. The town has several parks and gardens, including the Jephson Gardens, close to the Royal Pump Rooms and next to the River Leam.

Other parks are the Mill Gardens, Victoria Park, The Dell and Welsh’s Meadow nature reserve. These gardens and parks are popular amongst holidaymakers as they are great locations to enjoy summer activities such as walking, Frisbee, jogging, horse riding, cycling and many others.

 

The shopping street within the town contains high street chains and independent stores, as well as the Royal Priors indoor shopping centre. Buildings in the town include a variety of Georgian and early Victorian architecture, as well as the Grade II Lansdowne Crescent. There is also a young tree called the Midland Oak that is marked by a plaque stating that it is at the very centre of the country, however it is commonly doubted.

The mineral springs beneath Leamington Spa have been there since time immemorial, but it wasn’t until the late 18th Century that its residents set about constructing baths.

After much renovation, the pump rooms were re-opened to the public in 1999 and now comprise an art gallery, a Turkish bath and tea rooms.

With a history stretching back over 1,000 years, Warwick Castle has its fair share of stories.
Largely built by William the Conqueror, the castle has undergone numerous renovations and is now one of Warwickshire’s foremost tourist attractions.

Holding themed events such as battle re-enactments, as well as a number of specialised tours, Warwick Castle is hailed as ‘Britain’s Ultimate Castle’.
