Leominster

The market town of Leominster is located in Herefordshire, England, approximately 12 miles from Hereford and is the second largest town in the county.

There are a number of impressive buildings in and around Leominster, including Croft Castle, a building that has been on the site from the 11th century and it has from this time been the home of the Croft family. The present building originated as a castle in the 14th century and has undergone many alterations. Another building of interest is Berrington Hall, a country house of neoclassical style that belongs to the National Trust.

 

Berrington Hall is home to the Elmar Digby furniture collection, as well as paintings by Thomas Luney and the Charles Paget-Wade costume collection from Snowshill. The below stairs areas which are open to the public include a Victorian laundry and Georgian dairy. Berrington Pool, a lake and island within the grounds, is a Site of Special Scientific Interest with a wide variety of flora and fauna.

Built in the late 18th Century, Berrington Hall is a neo-classical mansion set in acres of Capability Brown-designed landscapes and offering views of the Brecon Beacons.
Now owned and managed by the National Trust, the mansion is displayed as it was when it was owned by the Rodney family in the 18th and 19th Centuries.

Yet another National Trust-maintained property, Croft Castle has been the home of the Croft family for almost 1,000 years.
Built sometime in the 15th Century, this atmospheric castle with its fine Georgian furnishings is set in 607 acres of Herefordshire countryside and has its own walled garden and over 300 veteran trees.
