London City Airport
London City airport is situated in east London close to Canary Wharf, The O2 centre and ExCel London. It has excellent transport links; for road users it is situated outside the central London congestions charge zone, however all passengers are encouraged to use public transport whenever possible. In 2008 the airport was rated by Business Traveller Magazine as having the best transport links in the world so public transport has to be the best option.
Hundreds of flights operate to 30 European cities weekly, as well as hundreds of international connections and domestic routes.
The Docklands Light Railway provides links to London Underground and mainline stations. The London City airport express shuttle bus service is pre bookable and takes passengers into central London. The closest mainline rail station is Waterloo – to get here the Docklands Light Railway takes 7 minutes to get to Canning Town underground station, where passengers can swap onto the Jubilee line to Waterloo.
London City airport has the longest taxi rank in Europe, situated just outside the terminal building. Black (hackney) cabs operate from here and fixed tariffs are in operation. As a guideline London Covent Garden currently costs around £22.00 one way.
Short and long term parking is available, being situated just minutes from the terminal. It can be booked in advance or drivers can turn up and pay. There are many disabled spaces available. Passengers can be dropped off in the forecourt of the main terminal building – but no waiting is permitted.
A left luggage facility operates at the airport, which costs at present £5 per item for 24 hours – it is situated to the right of the main concourse.
Cars can be hired – three main companies are situated next to the main building and open from 7am to 11.30pm Monday to Friday and reduced hours at weekends.

Custom House Hotel
