Southampton Airport
Southampton airport links the South coast of the UK with over 46 holiday destinations including Aberdeen, Alicante, Amsterdam, Belfast, Brussels, Dublin, Dusseldorf, Faro, Frankfurt, Glasgow, Geneva, Innsbruck, Inverness, Isle of Man, Palma, Salzburg and Verona.
Southampton city centre is only 5 miles away accessed via the A335. A bus service, the Uni-Link U1C operates from the airport stopping at the University, city centre and Eastern docks. This runs right through the year every 15 minutes Monday to Friday and every 20 minutes at weekends.
Southampton airport rail station is only a short walk (about a minute) from the terminal building which makes it one of the fastest plane to train connections in Europe. There is a service into Southampton town centre every 10 minutes. Trains also travel to London Waterloo every 20 minutes – a journey which takes only 66 minutes.
There is a taxi rank opposite the arrivals hall and minibuses which are available for disabled passengers with wheelchairs (which would need to be pre-booked).
Red funnel ferries run a service out of Southampton to the Isle of Man – from Southampton Central station there is a free shuttle service down to the quay.
A car rental reception is based opposite the main terminal and the main car hire companies operate from here.
There are comprehensive facilities for those travelling with young children including a dedicated baby changing room with a private baby feeding area. The main restaurant has highchairs, bottle warming facilities and a children’s menu. W H Smiths can be found in the forecourt which sells a range of reading materials and activities to keep children occupied.
Currency is available from a bureau de change available for arriving customers – currency can be ordered beforehand and picked up at the airport in order to get the best exchange rates.
