Staines

The Surrey town of Staines sits within the M25 and is conveniently placed for commuting to London, but there is more to the town than simple convenience.

There has been a settlement at Staines for many centuries – indeed, as crossing point on the River Thames it always has been and remains an important place – and Roman occupation saw the town take a hold. In more recent times the town has become famous as the home of the popular fictional character Ali G – a caricature by the comedian Sacha Baron Cohen – and there are many major shop brands with stores in the town.
