Stansted Airport
Stansted airport, around a 35 mile drive from central London, is known as London’s third airport and is easily accessible by road, train or coach. By road it is around 3 miles north of junction 8 of the M11 and is 20 minutes away by car from junction 27 of the M25.
National Express coaches travel to the airport from London Victoria coach station, Liverpool Street station, Stratford , Luton airport, Gatwick airport and Heathrow. The Cambridge Coach Company operates services from the airport to Cambridge, Oxford, Hemel Hempstead and High Wycombe. The coach station is situated just outside the terminal building.
Stansted airport has a rail station which connects directly to many major towns and cities including Birmingham, Cambridge, Peterborough, Nuneaton and Leicester. Trains leave for London hourly, stopping at Bishop’s Stortford, Harlow, Roydon, Waltham Cross, Enfield, Tottenham Hale and Hackney Downs finishing at London Liverpool Street station.
A taxi rank operates just outside the arrivals area and cabs can be booked in advance – a typical journey into central London would cost at present around £70. Car hire companies situated at Stansted include Hertz and Europcar and the concessions are open 24 hours a day 365 days a year.
There are a range of parking options from short-term (up to 5 hours) to mid stay car parking of stays of a number of days to longer term parking where cars can be left for several weeks. The long term car park is a 10 minute courtesy bus ride from the terminal.
Facilities on offer at the airport include cash dispensers, a bureau de change, and baby changing and free showers. Accessorize, Boots, Clarks and the Body Shop are a few of the shops situated here.
