Wilde's Leamington Spa

Since 1976, Wilde’s has been located in the same regency basement at the top of the Parade in Royal Leamington Spa. Wilde’s always has a buzzing atmosphere, with students, couples and groups all enjoying the cosy and relaxed surroundings.  

Food is served at lunchtime and dinner, with tapas served throughout the day. Where possible, the food is sourced from local suppliers. There is a seasonal a la carte menu, with changing daily specials depending upon the whim of the chef, the produce available and feedback from customers. Normally there will be some variety of sausage and mash on the menu, a cut of steak, fish, and, almost invariably, Wilde’s spicy fishcakes and spinach with a roasted tomato sauce. The dessert menu is always lengthy and decadent, often featuring mascarpone, crème brulee and cheese. 

The tapas menu has the standard tapas selection - olives, anchovies and tempura. In addition the spicy fishcakes appear in mini-form on the tapas menu and hungry grazers can order a whole Camembert baked in its box with gerkins and a baguette. It’s easy to spend hours in the laid back atmosphere, chatting with friends or even nestled with a bottled of wine and a good book. 

Patron Max Smith is an obvious Francophile when it comes to wine. There are nearly 20 varieties available by the glass on the frequently changing wine list. Unsurprisingly the majority of the wines are from the Old World, although recently they have been offering wines from New World growers such as Peter Lehmann, twice winner of International Wine Producer of the Year.

At the weekend be sure to book or arrive early to avoid disappointment. The restaurant is closed on Sundays (apart from bank holidays when they often have bands playing) and bank holiday Mondays.
