Crewe

A railway town within the county of Cheshire, Crewe enjoys a rich history in railway affairs. Perhaps the best-known feature in Crewe is the large railway junction and home to Crewe Works.

For many years a major railway engineering facility, Crewe Works is now much reduced in size, but is still interesting to see. From 1946 until 2002 it was also the home of Rolls-Royce motor car production and the Pyms Lane factory on the west of the town now produces Bentley motor cars exclusively, making Crewe an ideal location for motoring enthusiasts, as well as railway enthusiasts.

The town features a large park, Queen’s Park, which is situated on land donated by the London and North Western Railway, and is a great place to enjoy a beautiful, peaceful walk. Also nearby is the Palms Tropical Oasis, a huge glass house in which tropical birds, fish and wildlife are housed amongst exotic flowering plants and beautiful waters.

Open during the summer months, Crewe Heritage Centre is a railway-based museum displaying the history of Crewe and its railway heritage.
The collection includes a prototype tilting train, signal boxes and a miniature railway.
Crewe is also famous for being home to the Rolls Royce and Bentley car factories, and Crewe Heritage Centre commemorates this with a prototype of the Bentley Continental GT.

Lakemore Farm Park is a family-friendly farm park located in countryside close to Crewe.
Open during the summer season, the park is home to rare breed farm animal such as llamas, pygmy goats and miniature donkeys. Other facilities include a crazy golf course, indoor play barn and shop.
